I always take time on Mondays to ride out into the country and photograph the landscape and abandoned buildings. It makes me forget about all the stressful things in life. I feel like I go on a mini vacation away from being an adult. I always find the most beautiful scenery. Endless corn fields and beautiful sunsets. It has always been a dream of mine to own a old farm house in the country with a big beautiful front porch with no neighbors.

Considering I like to spend my time watching HGTV remodel homes and fantasize about creating my own home, I plan to own my farm house one day. It will be a rough DIY, but at the end it will be worth it. Being out there gives a sense of relief. It’s quiet, you hear the birds and you can drink your coffee peacefully outside without nosey neighbors.

I’ve taken a couple of these photos and had them printed to put on the wall. When you have a southern rustic theme going on in your home, it really compliments what you got going on. I sometimes get lucky and get the BEST photos.

When I stumble upon these old houses I always wonder what it was like before. Who the family were, what happened to them… It’s sad that some of these homes are left to rot and for the vandals to damage. If I had the money, I would buy every single one and bring it back to life. I thought about going into a few, but I don’t think I would do well in jail for trespassing. So instead I’ll take my chance with just taking pictures.

This is why I am thankful for taking my camera everywhere with me. I capture beautiful places like this. Now when I’m not finding your occasional abandoned houses or gas stations, I always find super creepy cemeteries.
